Character synopsis

We are introduced to Mio when she was waiting the table for Eritate Kengo and gang's group date. After taking their orders, she repeated them. Repeating the order, she had mistakenly began to list the orders wrong and was promptly corrected when Nago Keisuke repeated the entire order from memory.

After mistaking some more orders as the date went on, Mio unfortunately tripped over herself as she was bringing out some apricot flavored ice ream. After spilling it on Nago and Kurenai Wataru, Nago immediately decided to have a word with the restaurant's manager. After being belittled by the manager for her continuous mistakes, Mio ran out of the restaurant in tears.

After running to a nearby bench, she was surprised to notice that Wataru had followed. After immediately apologizing again, she explained that she prone to being shy. The kind to subscribe to various magazines, catalogs and newspapers often just for the sake on not turning others down. Identifying with that, Wataru claimed to do the exact same thing. As a vendor on a bicycle rolled up, the two showed off their common traits as they bought cold tofu from the vendor.

As Mio stopped by Mald'amour sometime later, she explained that her and Kengo's date didn't leave her feeling very well. After thinking for a while, Megumi, who had also been there, decided to play matchmaker and thought that Wataru was better suited for her. Unfortunately Kengo, who had apparently been in the door long enough to overhear, was in disbelief. As she apologized to Kengo, claiming herself to be selfish, she ran off.

A little later Wataru eventually founder her at the bench she ran to the other day. As she expressed that she felt useless because of her imperfections, Wataru openly disagreed. Saying that people can change if the really think they can, Wataru showed this as the vendor from the other day showed up. This time turning the vendor down, he then took Mio by the hand and ran off. Inspired by Wataru, Mio asked him to come with her.

Heading over to a local clothing store, Mio explained that she had never bought any clothes she had really wanted and always bought what the shopkeep recommended to her. Asking Wataru to keep her on track, she brought him with her to show that she too wanted to change. As they walked in, she noticed a light blue dress, but the shopkeep recommended various articles of clothing for her. But when Wataru gave her a quick word of encouragement, she quickly picked out the blue dress from the rack. After purchasing a blue dress, the two then made their way out.

Soon walking up to a jewelry vendor, Mio chose a set of earrings. When Wataru looked on, Mio asked him as to what ring she should get as she wanted one as well. Wataru recalled that Mio wanted to buy things of her own choosing. But she then replied that she was choosing him to pick something out. Understanding now what she meant, he then did pick something out that was luckily to her liking as well.

Later in the day at work, everything was going pretty nicely. Even the customers were commenting on her new look. But unfortunately just as things seemed for the better, Mio again tripped over herself and spilled some cold ramen over some customers. Again being yelled at by the manager, she was this time fired form the job. As she made some ways away form the restaurant, the shopkeep from before turned into the Chameleon Fangire. As he attacked her, Kiva appeared and fought the Fangire. Now free from the monsters grasp, Mio took the orotundity to flee from the scene.

Meeting back with Wataru a little later at a local restaurant, the two conversed about change. Realizing that it takes more than just a new set of clothes and a new look, she chose not to ware the things she had purchased the day before. However after taking of the jewelry, she decided that she should at least wear the ring, since Wataru picked it out for her.

Sometime later after Megumi learned of a difficulty in her latest photo shoot, she thought of bringing Mio down to the set. At first Mio had been reluctant, believing herself not to be suited to be a model, Megumi finally persuaded her to do it with Wataru's help. So with the extra model position filled, Megumi took both Mio and Wataru to the set. Unfortunately for Mio, she felt too nervous to do anything in front of the camera. But after Megumi had advised Mio to just relax and think of a pleasant memory or something that made her feel good, she meerely glanced over at Wataru and soon was able to act comfortable in front of the camera.

After the photo shoot, Mio, Wataru and Megumi returned to Mald'amour to celebrate their success. After Megumi suggested that Mio be a full time model, she immediately denied it believing that she'd be too shy for it. But Wataru thought otherwise as he though she was gaining more self confidence and encouraged her to do more of whatever it may be that she may want to do in the future.

Later in the day, Mio pulled up in a Bento Delivery car as she found Wataru looking as though he was in trouble. After telling Wataru that it was apart of her new job, Watatru asked her to take the two he was with some where. After taking them there, Nago showed up, intent on doing away with the one man whom she had given a ride for. With Nago activating IXA, the man, Shinji, soon transformed into the Grizzly Fangire and fought Nago. After Shinj managed to get the upper hand and had beaten Nago down, Wataru and Mio then ran away. Unfortunately Shinji caught up, bent on killing Mio. But after Shinji actually managed to inflict harm on her, and seemingly rendered her unconscious, she later awoke to watch Shinji crawl up to his dead wife, Ryoko, and then shatter into thousands of shards of glass.

Sometime later, Wataru and Mio stopped in at Mald'amour and talked about Mio's new job. As she was only just a delivery girl, she expressed her hopes in actually making food later on at some point. But after Wataru openly declared that he looked forward to her doing so, Megumi bursted in, assuming they were on a date. Despite Wataru and Mio saying that they weren't on a date at the time, she further tried to play the matchmaker between the two. As she went on, Nago, from the other end of the cafe, insisted that they not bother with a romantic relationship and instead focus on how they can better the world.

A little later as she was delivering a Bento box, she had dropped her change. After picking it up from the floor, the customer soon then collapsed, turning transparent. After asking if anyone was there, she then raced back to the kitchen where she requested to end the day early. But as soon as she turned away to leave, the entire staff then collapsed and went transparent as well.

The next day as Mio was taking a stroll, telling herself that it wasn't her that killed all those people, a tall man in a dark coat appeared before her. After telling her that she couldn't escape the fate of being Queen, he claimed that it was indeed her who was responsible for the deaths of those around her. Still in disbelief, the man went on to state that it was Queen's job to eliminate those who become emotionally attached to humans. Having that said, he then presented her with a black envelope with the Queen emblem containing a hit-list of those that needed to be dealt with.

Not too long after, Mio burned the envelope and it's contents. After claiming that there wasn't any way she could bring herself to be the new Queen, an odd man started climbing up the stair rail, claiming that the the new incompetent Queen needed to die. After dodging a curved blast from the Shark Fangire, Mio fled. Luckily after running far enough, she ran into Megumi and Nago. After the the two engaged her pursuers, Mio took the opportunity and ran to safety.

Unfortunately even though she escaped, she ran into the man from before, Bishop. After being reminded of the choice she was given and th duty he claims her to have, she then realized that he had fooled her. When he told her it was for the sake of bringing forth her power, she expressed her opinon that it wasn't that big a problem that Fangires loved humans. After he claimed that she then would be considered a traitor and then executed, he told her that as the new Queen, it is her duty to prepare for the arrival of the new King.

The next day as Mio found a couple walking about enjoying themselves, she stood in their path. Raising her hand, revealing her tattoo, the male half of the couple instantly knew who she was. As he surrendered his life, knowing of his trespass, he only requested that the girl go. Even though he was ready to die, Mio didn't have the killer instinct to carry out her task, so she allowed them to go free. Unfortunately as they made their way, they were intercepted by Bishop who insisted on showing Mio how the Queen's job was properly carried out. As he revealed his tattoo, he then unleashed his own power upon the couple and Mio.

Even though the couple died, Mio's power as Queen shielded her from Bishop's blast of power. Having nowhere else to go, she fled straight to Wataru's home where she passed out in his studio. After Wataru had played her a song while she slept, Mio woke up and apologized for coming back despite saying that she wouldn't see him again. Not caring about what she said before, Wataru vowed before her that he'd become stronger to protect her. After Mio got up out of bed despite his pleading for her not to, she asked Wataru for a glass of water. Knowing he wouldn't let her go, Mio left as he wasn't there to stop her.

Making her way into a nearby park and stopping under a tree. She unfortunately is yet again is found by Ryo, still intent on killing her. But luckily Megumi was there to allow Mio to escape. Getting far enough to stop for a breath, she soon ran into Wataru. Yet as all seemed well for the time, Ryo showed again. As he transformed into his true form, Wataru stood between her and the Fangire. After he took a beating from the Fangire, Mio told him to cease what he was doing. As she started to display small amounts of her power, Ryo threw Wataru aside into the river and ran off.

NewQueen2.png

A little later, Mio found Ryo tattered and injured as he crawled out of a river. Recalling his obsession for Megumi, she had asked if he had loved a human woman. As she turned day to night, with a violet full moon right above. She directed her hand towards the Fangire, revealing her Queen tattoo on her palm, and kills Ryo with her own destructive blast of power. Leaving behind a large mark in the shape of the Queen tattoo.

Sometime later, after Mio called Wataru to meet at mald'amour, Mio apologized for what had happened previously. Not bothered by it as much, Wataru did however ask why she claimed that they couldn't see one another before. But after she expressed uncomfort in remembering why, he then luckily dropped the subject. After she yet again apologized, Mio then told Wataru that she decided that she wanted to continue to see Wataru from then on. And to make the moment all the better, Shizuka came from across the cafe, encouraging their relationship.

Later in the day as she tried to call Wataru to invite him to a movie, Shizuka answered in his stead. After telling Shizuka of her reasons for calling and Shizuka saying she'd relay the message and hanging up. Mio recieved another visit from Bishop, yet again reminding her of her role as Queen.

The next day as Mio was waiting for Wataru to head to the movies, She spotted Shizuka and Wataru a little ways away. As Wataru went off elsewhere, leaving Shizuka, Mio went up to her. After asking her where he was going, Shizuka proclaimed that she and Wataru were spending the day together, but more importantly, that they were engaged.

Sometime later after Shizuka apologized for lying to her about Wataru and booking them tickets for a Rakugo theater show, Mio chatted with Wataru over his relationship problems with his friends. Unfortunately the conversation was cut short as she inexplicably found herself being escorted by Bishop into a large building. Within the confines of said building in addition to herself and Bishop, Rook also was present. As Bishop proclaimed that not only was it her duty to enforce order amongst the Fangires, but protect them from danger, namely Kiva, he slipped on an ankle bracelet on her left ankle. After it was in place, the three were then finally joined by and greeted King.

Later on after witnessing the death of Abel, Mio's instructions from Bishop rung in her head. Following them, Mio finally reverted to the Pearlshell Fangire. Taking advantage of Kiva's lack of guard, she landed a drop king to him from behind. As Kiva stood, it was apparent that he decided to make the first move. Ultimately this proved futile as Mio's new powers as Queen allowed her to control small floating pearls. After Kiva was knocked back from her using the pearls as a shield, she had them cluster around him, and then bludgeoned him from all sides. As she on the offensive, Kiva saw it and performed a last ditch roundhouse Emperor Moon Break, wounding Mio. After knocking Kiva back, Mio took the opportunity to retreat.

After passing out near where she fought Kiva, Wataru found her and brought her to his home. After he did so, he attempted to assist in medical treatment. However as he attempted to wrap gauze after applying a bandage to her arm, Wataru flinched in pain. Pulling up his sleeve, revealing a large bruise, Mio expressed concern and asked how he got it. After claiming that he got it from falling off a bike, Mio then claimed the same before they proceeded to patch one another up.

Afterwards, heading over to the Checkmate Four's headquarters, Bishop inquired about Kiva's power and ability. After Mio proclaimed that she'd kill him the next time, Bishop expressed his pleasure in Mio's confidence, commenting that her fiancee, King, would be pleased. After Mio asked why she had to be with the King, Bishop explained that it was Fangire law. In order for the Fangires to maintain themselves, King and Queen must be joined.

As the day progressed, Mio was asked to attend a formal dinner with King, her finacee, Nobori Taiga. Meeting each other properly for the first time, he admitted that he found her suitable for the role that was bestowed upon her. Unwittingly making her uncomfort wit the situation obvious, Taiga confided with her, claiming that he understood that it's difficult being suddenly bound to someone they don't even know. As Taiga claimed that he wished to rectify that, wanting to open himself up to her so she could know him better, he insisted that she try the food that was prepared for them, to of which she did.

Heading back home, Mio once again ran into Bishop, this time with an assignment: the execution of Numakawa, the Tortoise Fangire. Finding him later that night as he appeared to be on his way to a date, she stood in his way. After she apologized for having to kill him and reverting to her true form, Numakawa did the same. However as she used her pearls to subdue him, he then asked why Fangires where forbidden to love Humans. This forcing her to hesitate, remembering Wataru, she then transformed back into her guise, allowing Numakawa to escape.

Sometime later as she made her way through town, Mio ran into Wataru. Depressed over her failures and lack of enthusiasm for her duty as Queen, she carried herself as it was obvious that she was bothered. Out of concern, Wataru decided to talk to her. As she started talking about her lesser qualities, Wataru quieted her down, reassuring her that he was there for her, claiming that he was becoming stronger to protect her.

Later in the day when she arrived in a restaurant as Taiga invited her to have lunch again, he told her that he also invited an old friend of his and that he was in the restroom. When he came back, she came face to face with Taiga's friend, who unfortunately turned out to be none other than Wataru. As they both stared at each other, shocked, they stared at one another as it seemed like time stopped, but soon snapped out of it. Each pretending that they've just met one another for the first time.

Awkward.png

Feeling guilty over what had just been revealed, Mio went to his home later to talk to Wataru. After awkwardly sitting silent across from another for a few moments, Mio spoke first, claiming that she and Taiga were arranged to be married, but Wataru didn't believe it. As Mio insisted that it wasn't as it seemed, Shizuka came storming down, claiming that she was a dispicable person and forcing her to leave. As she was waking through a tunnel under a railroad, Kurosawa stood in her path, pointing out her recent failure to kill another traitor Fangire. After mentioning that he though that she was weak willed and that she didn't measure up to the previous Queens, he was then interrupted by Taiga. As Kurosawa claimed that Mio was not suitable for him, Taiga released a small wave of power at Kurosawa, claiming that if he would say such insolence again that it would cost him his life.

The next day as Taiga accompanied her on her latest assignment, he noticed that she was depressed. Still feeling guilty for keeping her engagement in the dark, and generally unsatisfied with the whole matter in general, Taiga asked what was wrong. As she claimed it was nothing, Taiga told her to do her best and that she'd make an excellent Queen. As they both saw her target, Taiga commented on his unawareness of Numakawa being a Fangire. After claiming that their target was one in the same, Mio went in to perform her duty. As Numakawa noticed her, they then both reverted back into their respective true forms and fought. After pinning him down, he once again asked her why they couldn't love humans. As this caused her to once again let him go, Taiga appeared. As he didn't mind her letting him go, he then walked on claiming that he'd take care of the matter from there.

Sometime later as Mio and Taiga were spending time with one another at an amusement park, Taiga had apparently decided to bring Wataru along. After going on a spinning teacup ride with Wataru, trying to say that she wasn't interested in Taiga, but he wouldn't have any of it. Mio, Wataru and Taiga were then witnesses to a hostage situation. As Nago arrived on the scene to apprehend the criminal, the armed perpetrator threatened to harm his captive. After Nago tricked him into letting his guard down and was unfortunately beaten down, a stranger appeared. After he took the perpetrator down in one blow and kicked Nago twice, Wataru and Nago then recognized the mysterious individual to be none other than Kengo.

The next day as Mio and Taiga were having lunch with one another, Taiga yet again expressed his good feelings of Mio being Queen. Claiming that he liked her more and more as they met, Mio's feelings for Wataru prevented her from returning his feelings. After racing out, Mio called for Bishop. After expressing that he was surprised that she actually sought him out to speak, Mio proclaimed that she did not wish to be Queen any further. Not taking her seriously, he told her desire was impossible. When she proclaimed that she just couldn't go through with her duty as he tried to leave, Bishop turned back, bringing up the incident of the previous Queen and asked if she wanted to end up the same. After a seconds pause, Bishop suggested to Mio that she should meet her sometime.

Beg.png

Later on after trekking through a forest and a long jagged cave, Mio came upon a large cavern with a lone dark figure sitting on a rock in the center. After approaching said figure, Mio acknowledged her as Queen, much to the figure's strange amusement. After she remarked that it'd been a while since she was referred to as such, Mio proclaimed that she wished to quit being the Queen. When Mio begged to the former Queen to quit, she claimed it wasn't possible for her since it wasn't her that picked Mio, but the power of the Queen itself. As Mio expressed her disbelief, the former Queen openly speculated that perhaps Mio was infatuated with a human. As she claimed that was the reason why her power was stripped, she also claimed that she didn't regret it despite the pain it caused her in the past, and asked Mio if she could brave that pain as well.

Later on as she was walking though a park to a designated spot Taiga had picked for them to meet, Mio repeated to herself that she had to tell Taiga of how she really felt. However before she could make it she was ambushed by the Horsefly Fangire, claiming she could sense great power form Mio and rendering her unconscious.

After waking up in a lab, tied down on a table, Mio inquired as to what the Horsefly Fangire was intending on doing. After she claimed that Mio's power added with her own would make her stronger than anyone, Wataru appeared to help her. After relieving Mio of her restraints and distracting the other Fangire, Mio escaped at Wataru's insistence.

Sometime later after telling herself that she needed to tell Taiga how she really felt, Taiga called her in to spend time with one another. As Taiga claimed he had something important to tell Mio. As Mio claimed the same, Taiga proposed she go first. However as Mio insisted Taiga do so instead, he then presented to her with three pictures. After proclaiming that he had a tailor for a friend, he told Mio that she could pick whichever one of the wedding dresses she liked that was depicted. Yet despite that, she claimed that she couldn't as she had feelings for someone else. Before she left, Taiga then tore each of the wedding dress designs all at once.

Later on while she sat at an outdoor cafe, Kengo sat down. After she commented on how his appearance changed, Kengo asked her what she wished to talk about. As she told him that she had feelings for someone, but said person she was interested in wouldn't understand her position, Kengo then purposed they go for a walk. After they walked for a while, Kengo confessed that he had liked her since they first met. When he claimed that he had changed since the last time they met, he tried to embrace her. However not long after, Taiga and Wataru arrived. As Taiga demanded that he release her, Kengo expressed his desire to fight, but luckily Wataru stepped in, preventing it.

After Taiga had taken Mio and left the scene, he asked if the stranger was the one she had feelings for. As she denied it, Taiga then demanded to know who it was then. Unfortunately however, she didn't say and left.Soon after, Mio had ran into Wataru. However before they could have a word with one another, Mio was ambushed by the Rat Fangire. When she came to she tried to confess to Wataru about her real feelings for him. After he encouraged her to say it, she confessed that it was Wataru who she was interested in. However not believing it, Wataru told her not to joke around, but she stayed adamant. When she asked how Wataru felt about her, he was left without words. After Mio apologized for asking so suddenly, she told him that he didn't have to answer right away.

Saga.png

The next day while Mio was waiting to talk with Wataru, Taiga showed up instead. After he asked what she saw in him, claiming that Wataru was a weak man, even for human standards. He further claimed that he didn't have what it took to protect her. However when she tried to walk away he pleaded for her to stop before it was too late for her. However As she made her true feelings shine through, Taiga expressed his pity in having to execute her himself. But before he could, three Rat Fangires appeared. As they drew closer, Wataru appeared and attacked them from behind. As he tried to fight the three on his own, he told her to run. Despite all his efforts. After proclaiming his true feelings for Mio, she motioned to help but Taiga restrained her and allowed Wataru to be beaten down.

After the Rats then turned their attention to the two, Taiga had questioned them on if they really intended to attack the King and Queen. When they claimed it didn't matter, that their grudge was with the former Queen. And that they wished to be appeased by taking it out on the current. After Taiga said to Mio that Wataru was unable to protect her but he was, and that he'd prove it. After calling for Sagarc and transforming, he engaged them. While into fighting the Rats, Taiga fought Kiva but was easily pushed back. As Kiva was about to deliver the finishing blow, Mio ran between them. As she then reverted to her true form, she managed to him back, causing him to revert to his true form, revealing himself to be Wataru. Leaving both Mio and shocked that all this time, Wataru was Kiva.

After letting Wataru get away out of her fit of disbelief, Mio thought over the recent revelation at an empty amphitheater down town. As she went over it in her mind, Bishop appeared asking why she was being so hesitant. As he said that as Queen, she must exterminate Wataru, Mio claimed she couldn't. But as Bishop reminded her that since Wataru saw her true form, knowing she was a Fangire, it didn't matter how she felt about him. Claiming that only one path was open for her now, Bishop stated that by going down that path properly, she must Kill wataru. With that said, Mio fell to her knees in tears.

Sometime later as Mio was sitting at her and Wataru's old meeting spot Wataru then appeared to her. After he claimed that he wanted to see her, Mio implied that there was no point anymore. With her being a Fangire and Wataru as Kiva, it was all never meant to be to begin with. After she asked what they were supposed to do, Taiga appeared, claiming that there was one if they followed him.

After he led them to Maya's cave, Taiga sent Wataru in first. A little later, Mio followed Taiga inside. As as they walked in asking if they were done conversing, Taiga then referred to Maya as his mother in front of Wataru. As Wataru's confusion was apparent, Taiga then claimed that he and Wataru were siblings. After Wataru asked her if it was true, Taiga explained that she used to be the former Fangire Queen. As he then claimed that Wataru had the blood of a Fangire, and that Taiga himself was a Fangire, the Mantis Fangire then appeared. As he seemingly summoned previously vanquished Fangires and then vanished, Taiga tried to order them to withdraw, but was for naught. After realizing that there was no point in words, Taiga and Wataru each transformed and engaged the rouge Fangires. As they kept the other Fangires distracted, Mio escorted Maya away from the battlefield.

Sometime later after feeling relieved to find out that Wataru was part Fangire, and then asking him to kill Taiga for her, Mio decided to appear to Wataru in his home. As he followed her down stairs, she led him to a spread of food on his table. Saying that she had made it all, she asked him to sit and try it. After doing so, stating that he thought it was good, Mio asked him when he was going to kill Taiga and become King. Not wanting anything to do with such a plot, Wataru politely asked that Mio go home.

Sometime later, after executing a traitor Fangire and speaking with Maya about taking her plans with Wataru and Taiga into her onw hands, Mio appeared to Taiga in a flower shop when he told the shopkeep that he was buying for a special occasion. As he was surprised that she was there, Mio explained that she wanted to spend time with him so she came there looking for him. As she asked what it was that was so special, Taiga hesitated to say. When she asked if it was going to be his official wadding proposal to her, he nodded. After she said that she'd accept the proposal, Taiga, in a fit of joyous excitement, proclaimed that he'd buy all the flowers in the shop, and then some.

Sometime later, Mio had asked to speak with Taiga. After Mio told him that she would liked to have the ceremony as soon as possible, just between the two of them, Taiga was sent into a fit of joy. Hugging her, he recalled how he was always alone, but with her, and soon enough with Wataru by his side, he'd never have to be again. With them, he could then truly start his life, and now with her plans truly set in motion, her new life could start as well.

Some days later, their wedding began, with no known witnesses as they agreed upon. After professing their vows, having an elaborate chain placed around her wrists and sharing a glass of some kind of wine, they then proceeded to finalize the ceremony with a kiss. However, just before their lips met, Mio used the opportunity to stab him in the gut with her hands partially reverted to her original form. After Taiga had collapsed, Mio ran. However, she was then cut off from her escape by Bishop, but Taiga ordered him to stand down. After claiming she didn't do anything, Bishop asked why he insisted on protecting her despite the blatant fact that she pretended to love him in order to get close enough to kill him. Still denying what Mio had done, she then finally did escape.

Death.png

Running some way, Mio eventually stumbled onto Taiga and Wataru fighting with one another. As it seemed that Taiga had lost the fight, with Wataru readying the finishing blow, she remembered what Taiga had done for her. Just before the kick hit him, Mio jumped in the way, protecting Taiga. Unable to stop, the attack hit Mio and her over the cliff. As she tried to get up, not entirely harmed by the attack and fall, Bishop approached Mio. As he reverted to his true form, Bishop claimed that for the sake of King, she had to die. With that, Bishop released a large wave of energy at the weakened Queen, and left her to die slowly. Soon enough, Wataru found her. Holding her in his arms, calling but to her, she finally came to. As she pulled out the ring he had bought for her back when they first became close to each other, he slipped it on her finger. Looking up and smiling, she said that she was happy before she closed her eyes, began to crack, and shattered into hundreds of pieces of glass.
