King

King (The Bat Fangire) is the husband of Maya, head of the Checkmate Four and master of all Fangires. After hearing of Maya's possible affair with the Human, Kurenai Otoya, he sets out in order to discern the truth of this rumor.

Character Synopsis

We are first introduced to King as he arrived into Doran as Maya was spending time with their son, Taiga. Sometime afterward he immediately questioned her on if she was acquainted with the Human, Kurenai Otoya. Responding that she did, King claimed that he had heard that she was exceptionally involved with him and asked if it was true. When she asked that what if she was, King then immediately drew the Zanvat sword one her. Yet after a seconds pause, he cast the great sword into the wall. When Maya inquired if it was alright to do that, to be without the most powerful sword in the world, King went on to explain that if he had the Zanvat, he'd kill her. And that if he killed her, it would mean he loved her, and that was not in the least bit what he wanted. As King took hold of Maya's neck, using his tattoo to burn her, she amusingly asked if he was upset. Not in the mood for her attitude, he claimed that Bishop had directly told him about Otoya. As he stated that Otoya was apart of an Organization that hunted Fangires and used a system called IXA to fight them, he claimed that he was a dangerous adversary. With that said, Maya claimed that Otoya was her prey, reassuring him with her word as Queen.

Sometime later, King decided to take care of another thorn in the backside of the Fangires. As he came upon a lone figure in a pedestrian area, King identified this individual as the last of the lowly Wolfen race, and proclaimed his intent on exterminating him. With that King immediately summoned Kivat Bat II, and transformed into Kiva. Despite the Wolfen trying to defend himself, the creature was completely overpowered by King, but unfortunately he was lucky enough to escape, causing to Kivat to remark on how fast the Wolfen fled.

Letting him escape for the time being, King decided to find the last members of either the Merman and Franken races. However as luck would have it, King came upon both of them at the same time. After showing how amused he was of the coincidence, King once again transformed into Kiva. As the Wolfen inexplicably arrived to aid the other two lesser monsters in attacking, King proclaimed the futility of their action. With that, he sent two of his energy traps, stopping the three in their tracks and using the second to crush them. After an explosion occurred, King soon noticed a hole in the wall of the tunnel they were in.

Sometime later as he decided to observe Maya, King finally saw the face of Otoya as he spent time with Maya during a picnic. After following Otoya for a while, King then reset his sights on the three survivors of the lesser races. As he cornered them into a mist filled forest, he proclaimed that there was only one road for the likes of them to follow; extinction. As they prepared to fight him, King released one light blast from his tattoo, forcing them all on their backs to the ground. As the three seemed to lose hope for their situation, King proposed that he'd allow and alternative under one condition. To kill Kurenai Otoya.

Sometime later, as it became apparent that the lesser monsters failed to kill Otoya, King decided to go after them. Coming across the young Merman first, the fish monster tried to resist, but King easily subdued and sealed him. Making no motion to kill him, Kivat inquired as to why King spared the Merman. Considering that he was the last of his respective race, he's make an amusing decoration for Doran. And with that, then then appeared before the Franken. As he tried to flee, King eventually captured and sealed him as well without even taking a single step. With the Merman and Franken captured, there was then only one last loose end to deal with.

Later on, King came across Maya and IXA in battle. After he quickly did away with the human, forcing her to retreat, Otoya came upon the scene, picked up the IXA Knuckle after he had inquired as to what had happened. However King asked why he had involved himself with Maya, the Queen of the Fangires. After he had announced himself to be King, Otoya claimed that he was in love with Maya. Amused by Otoya's blasphemy, King claimed it was impossible for Humans and Fangires to be with one another. However Otoya didn't see it that way and claimed that it didn't matter if they were Fangire or Human. That what was important was what was inside, he claimed that Maya heard his inner music, that she truly understands him. and that he can hear Maya's inner music as well.

As they took their confrontation to an abandoned warehouse, King ordered Maya to kill Otoya. However as she made no motion to do so, thinking she sided with the Humans, King then claimed that Otoya had the divine honor of being sent to hell by none other than himself. With that, Otoya immediately drew the IXA Knuckle and fired an energy blast at King. However he deflected it with a dark energy wave of his own, sending Otoya flying back. As Maya rushed to his side, screaming his name, King then confirmed what Bishop had told him about, as Maya shed tears for the human. As King prepared to finish him off, the last member of the Wolfen Race had apparently tried to ambush King on his own. However as King transformed into Kiva, he quickly sealed the Wolfen, completing his collection for Doran. As Otoya stormed up to King, despite Maya trying to hold him back, seemingly enraged over what King did to the Wolfen, Otoya activated IXA and charged at King. Easily deflecting Otoya's drop kick, King rendered Otoya unconscious after shocking him with energy bolts and throwing him against a wall. After some small interference with the human female Maya was fighting with earlier, King lifted Otoya with one hand and told Maya that he'd finish up with Otoya in a more convenient location, and vanished.

Sometime later as Otoya woke, he demanded to know where he was and what King intended to do. As he stated that Otoya wasn't worthy of being a decoration in his home, King claimed that Otoya was to become food for Castle Doran. Turning a small hourglass, King proclaimed that once all the sand reached the bottom, all of Otoya's life energy would be consumed by Doran. Just before the walls seemingly did in fact begin suck his life energy.

Later on, after further having his life energy drained, King pointed out that Otoya's time to die was near. With that in mind, Otoya asked a favor of King: to play the violin one last time. However, after a short song, the hour glass ran out of sand. Growing tired of Otoya's performance, King decided to finish Otoya off personally. But just before King as about to deliver the death blow, he was interrupted by Maya and the Human girl from before. As King once again became Kiva, claiming Maya had lost her pride as a Fangire, and Maya reverted to her true form, the two did battle. Easily defeating his wife, King asked one last time if she was truly in love with Otoya. Assuming her Human disguise, she paused and then finally confessed that she did, more than anyone else. Displeased with her words, King immediately removed her powers as Queen and sealed her abilities as a Fangire. Locking her in her Human disguise till the end of her days, he claimed that she wasn't worth being mentioned as a Fangire any longer, and was more among the likes of a wondering spirit.

Some time later, King crossed paths with Maya, along with Taiga in his arms. After he asked if she was going to see Otoya, he encouraged her to go and love whomever she wished. However, despite what he said, he stated that should she ever go to see Otoya again, he would kill Taiga. Proclaiming that he didn't need anything from anyone who shared the blood of a traitor, even if that someone was his own son.

Later on, after the Poler Bear Fangire was killed off by Kurenai Otoya, and was notified of time traveler (who also happened to be the future's Kiva) from the future seeking to change it through Otoya, King appeared before them. Knowing what the stranger wanted to do, King recommended the best solution to the other Kiva's predicament: To kill Otoya. As Otoya didn't seem to be quite fond of King's words, it was then that King transformed into Kiva. After King pulled Otoya to him and charged him with green bolts of energy again, the Future's Kiva rushed to the aid of Otoya, referring to him as father, and kicked King away. After the kick, King shortly then rose to his feet. Now knowing that the future's Kiva was he child of Otoya and Maya. King, enraged over the abomination's existence, stripped himself of Kiva and reverted to his true form. After he blasted the both of them with a large beam of dark energy, King unfortunately noticed that the two gave him the slip.

Later on, as the future's Kiva made his way, King appeared before him once again, proclaiming his desire to kill him. After both transforming into Kiva, they bagan to fight. However it wasn't long before King proved to be the superior combatant. But soon enough Otoya appeared. After he threw the other Kiva aside, he fired a small blast of dark energy at Otoya. Unfortunately, the other kiva took the hit for Otoya. And to make matters worse, Otoya called for Kivat's aid, and transformed into Kiva. Displeased with Kivat's defection, they attacked one another. After the resulting small explosion due to the colliding of their attacks, King decided to leave.

As the day went on, King stumbled upon Otoya intruding in Doran, taking the last of the inferior races that he had collected. Asking if he came all that way just to die, Otoya tried to attack King. Easily throwing Otoya to the ground, he unfortunately fired a light energy blast out of IXA and sent King flying back. After Otoya ran, King soon rose to his feet and began to chase human after brushing himself off. After searching Doran's corridors, he soon enough found the Otoya and his halfbreed son. As Otoya claimed that he'd take care of King, he once again summoned Kivat and transformed into Kiva, just as King reverted to his true form, and did battle.

After the fight took them outside of Doran, King still managed to prove himself a great combatant, even without the aid of Kiva. But eventually the fight seemed to have leveled out as Otoya figured out more of Kiva's powers. Eventually being stuck in place with the insignia trap, Otoya then performed the Darkness Hell Crash on King. However, King quickly rose after the attack and summoned a Sabbat, taking control of Doran and shooting at Otoya. Unfortunately, the Future's Kiva took care of the creature, but this made little difference as King still proved to be more than powerful enough to fight the lowly human.As the future's Kiva noticed what King had beaten him down, he attacked. After doing so, he too was soon beaten down after King further displayed if prowess in combat, not even letting the halfbreed land a hit on him. Beating the future's Kiva down as well, Otoya then got back up to his feet. Impressed for Otoya having used Kiva several times already and not dead yet, King commended him for his will to live. And with that, Otoya revealed and activated IXA.

Even though Otoya had one last thing to fight with, it clearly proved ineffective as King soon blasted IXA clean off of Otoya. As the future's Kiva tried to fight King again, King once again showed his superiority in battle. With this, Otoya called for Kivat one last time. After he transformed into Kiva, the two of them each tried to attack King. Despite their physical might, each trying to go for him proved to be futile. After the both of them had been pushed back, they then started to attack King simultaneously. After unfortunately knocked back, Otoya managed to keep King still with the insignia trap. With this, father and son then readied their respective finishers. Landing their kicks on King in unison, it ending the fight.

As King had a hard time rising to his feet, he noticed Maya standing by with Taiga in her arms. Proclaiming that she belonged to him, he requested that she go to hell along with him. With that, he let out a blast of energy from his tattoo at Maya. However, unexpectedly, Taiga had somehow reflected the blast back at King. After he stepped back some due to the force of the blast, King was pleased by this. Reveling in and stating the fact that his son had now ascended to King, he proclaimed that Taiga would one day kill all of them. And with those last words, King broke up and shattered into hundreds of pieces.
