Within the series exists 13 separate, yet similar, monster races (Mazoku, lit' "Demon Genus") that all seem to dominate or feed on Humans in some form. Although not all have been shown thus far, there are seven that are confirmed and several who have yet have been listed officially.

Fangire
The Fangires are the story's adaptation of the fictional Vampire creature of European folklore (their name being a combination of Fang and Vampire). These creatures are Stain Glass monsters that feed and sustain themselves by consuming the life force of humans, leaving their fallen prey in a transparent glass like state.
In order of appearance in the series as follows.
Itoya Ryo
Itoya Ryo (The Spider Fangire) is a severe mentally disturbed Fangire and is the first shown in the series. After facing Aso Yuri, he develops an extreme obsession for her. This obsession carries on for twenty years and is passed on to Yuri's daughter, Megumi, whom he now intends to "marry" just like he had tried previously with Yuri.
Tsugami Kaoru
Tsugami Kaoru (The Horse Fangire) is a Fangire who prefers attractive women as his meals. At first a successful businessman in the 1980s who consumes the life energies from his female secretaries. In the present, he's a male model and agent who scouts female models as a more definite means of satisfying his tastes.
Miyazawa Hitomi
Miyazawa Hitomi (The Octopus Fangire) is a talented violinist who uses her seductive skills of playing to lure victims for consumption. After starting a career as a professional violinist with the overseeing of Kurenai Otoya, and later being discovered. She returns by the present to seek revenge on Aso Megumi for her mother, Yuri, damaging her violin.
Natsukawa Aya
Natsukawa Aya (The Moth Fangire) was a former botanist who had previously developed a crush on Kurenai Otoya. After the twenty-two years of growing bitter, Natsukawa eventually became a lawyer and decided to get revenge on Otoya by sullying his name and reputation.
Kuramae Noboru
Kuramae Noboru (The Sheep Fangire) is an extreme fan of Aso Megumi. To the point of stalking her, he eventually encounters another Fangire, Itoya Ryo, who shares his interest. But after Ryo seemed to be intent on taking Megumi for himself, Noboru forces him out of the picture and plans to "marry" Megumi instead.
Count Inukai
Count Inukai (The Prawn Fangire) is the owner of the restaurant Maison Cercueil. After having the last of his servants pass away in the 1980s. He has spent the last twenty years gathering human life energy in the hopes that it would revive his dead loyal servants.
Omura Takeo
Omura Takeo (The Frog Fangire) was a violin maker responsible for creating the Black Star Violin. After killing those he didn't deem worthy of ownership of his creation, and meeting Kurenai Otoya, he encounters Otoya's son, Wataru twenty-two years later and instructs him in how to properly make violins.
Earwig
The Earwig Fangire was among those who had been interrupted by Aso Yuri from feeding. However as he took it a bit personal, he decided to get back at her quite sooner that most others did.
Miyake Toru
Miyake Toru (The Rhinoceros Fangire) is a talent agent who's preferred meals are young people with great dreams ahead of them. Believing the energy they put into making their dreams come true to be most exquisite. He works as a scout for in order to seek out young talented people to feed on and then collects something that was involved with their goal as a trophy or a grave memorial or sorts.
Sakaguchi Sakichi
Sakaguchi Sakichi (The Seastar Fangire) is a mentally disturbed thief on the run from Nago Keisuke. With a preference for female athletes, he comes after the life of Kurosawa Mami various times.
Ladybug
The Ladybug Fangire is a vengeful, grudge filled Fangire. Bitter over the lives of his friends being taken by IXA over the years. He kidnaps Nago Keisuke and Eritate Kengo believing that Aso Megumi was the IXA System's user.
Yamashita
Yamashita (The Chameleon Fangire) is a clothing store owner who feeds on those who had purchased items from his stores. At first owning and operating the clothing store, Luxur, in the 80s. He was forced to relocate after being discovered by the Wonderful Blue Sky Org. After twenty-two years of hiding, he restarted his operations once again with a new clothing store.
Takeuchi Shinji
Takeuchi Shinji (The Grizzly Fangire) is a desperate and tormented individual torn over the love of his wife, Ryoko, and the fear of being sentenced to death by his own kind. After restoring his relationship with Ryoko and successfully evading execution by the hands of Queen in the 80s, by the present he is now depressed over Ryoko's deteriorating health and has since resorted to stealing various valuables such as jewelry in order to make his wife's last days happy.
Shark
The Shark Fangire is among various Fangires under the service of the Checkmate Four. Of one these services, he was ordered along with Itoya Ryo by Bishop to track and eliminate the newest traitor Queen, Suzuki Mio.
Cicada
The Cicada Fangire is of the various Fangires under the service of the Checkmate Four. Among these services was acting as an envoy for the 1980s Queen, Maya. After having to remind her of her duties, he decided to remove her distraction by eliminating Tanahashi. However as Nago Keisuke negated his death, he still lives on and serves to the present day.
Crab
The Crab Fangire is one of the minuet few Fangires to take advantage of the Wonderful Blue Sky Org's imprisonment under false charges and freely feeds on many Humans during that time.
Abel
Abel (The Warthog Fangire) is an exceptionally powerful Fangire seeking to be King of the Checkmate Four. With enough strength to go toe to toe against the likes of Kiva's Emeror From and Rook individually, he seeks out to kill the current King. Having heard he can display special powers and is hidden amongst the human populace, Abel resorts to killing anyone who exerts special abilities in the hopes that they are King.
Kurosawa
Kurosawa (The Moose Fangire) is of the various Fangires serving under the Checkmate Four. After promising to look after the previous Queen's son, Nobori Taiga, 22 years ago, Kurosawa now acts as Taiga's, the new King's, assistant. Due to his promise with the previous Queen, Maya, he sees the new Queen, Suzuki Mio, unfit for Taiga.
Numakawa
Numakawa (The Tortoise Fangire) is an unfortunate individual who was sentenced to execution by his own kind for loving a human.
Kaede
Kaede (The Horsefly Fangire) is a Fangire captured by human scientist, Professor Kanda, and forced into cannibalism for his experiments. After encountering King, Kaede decided to use Kanda so as to gain greater power in order to survive being marked as a traitor.
Rat
The Rat Fangire is a disgruntled individual with a grudge against the Fangire Queen, Maya. After being interrupted and prevented from killing Aso Yuri twice by Maya. The Rat's grudge against her as gone on twenty-two years later and now wishes to exact revenge on the current Queen, Suzuki Mio.
Mantis
The Mantis Fangire is of the various Fangires serving under the Checkmate Four. As one of Bishop's personal subordinates, he was among those tasked with trying to eliminate the previous Queen, Maya, for her past treacheries. Although not quite strong on his own, he is gifted with the power of necromancy and revives dead Fangires to do his dirty work.
Seamoon
The Seamoon Fangire appears to be among the many Fangires under the service of The Checkmate Four. As far as can be seen, he was used by Bishop lure out IXA.
Sungrazer
The Sungrazer Fangire is among the many under the service of the Checkmate Four. Being charged with the task of assassinating Shima Mamoru, he unfortunately failed his task due to the interruption of Nago Keisuke.
Silkmoth
The Silkmoth Fangire is among the many Fangires under the service of the Checkmate Four. Gifted with the the power of illusion, she had been placed to guard the forest that Castle Doran had resided in.
Poler Bear
The Poler Bear Fangire is of the various Fangires serving under the Checkmate Four. He was among those tasked with trying to eliminate the deposed Queen, Maya, for her treacheries.
Sabbat
Sabbats Are large creatures produced through Fangire souls. Most commonly, they are created when the souls of bodiless Fangires merge into one or when one Fangire has the sufficient amount of Life energy to turn his or her own soul into one single handedly. Additionally, Rook and King of the Checkmate Four have been shown to able to summon variants of Sabbats at their own discretion.
Checkmate Four
The Checkmate Four are the four most powerful and rightful rulers of the Fangires. Each is bestowed with power unlike normal Fangires, they also brandish tattoos that represents a Chess piece. In addition as a sign of status, they're known to use the respective name of their tattoo as their own name at times. This has led the audience to not learning the real names of some members.
Rook
Rook (The Lion Fangire) is the first introduced of the Checkmate Four. Bestowed with unbelievable power, strength and skill, but not patience, he constantly uses these to entertain himself with his "time play" games. Because of these games, he has often become the object of revenge for multiple people. After falling in battle due to the IXA System in the 1980s, Rook reemerges in the present only to find himself at a loss of what to do as he has, by now, played every single game variation that he can possibly think of.
Maya
Maya (The Pearlshell Fangire) is the matriarchal member of the Checkmate Four. Commanding respect and fear even from the likes of of fellow member, Rook, as well as stunning beauty. Despite her sole duty to destroy traitorous Fangires who choose to fully coexist with Humans, she develops a curiosity towards the Humans so as to better understand why so many fellow members of the Fangire race find a fondness for them.
Suzuki Mio
Suzuki Mio (The Pearlshell Fangire) is a good hearted yet shy and clumsy individual. After regularly putting herself down because of her shortcomings and bettering herself after meeting Kurenai Wataru. She now copes with learning of, and accepting the merciless role as the latest Queen of The Checkmate Four, the main enforcer of the Fangire race.
Bishop
Bishop (The Swallowtail Fangire) is the scheming, behind the scenes member of the Checkmate Four. Aside from his duty as the administrative, propagandist commander of the Fangires, he has personally taken up the duty of awakening the newest Queen and seeking out a new King after going so long as a member of the four with out them.
Nobori Taiga
Nobori Taiga is the modern day King of the Checkmate Four and of the Fangire race. In order to fulfill his role, he has since become the president of a technicians company "Development & Pioneer", using it to secretly find and destroy anything that would further Human advancement. Despite his duty as King to prevent Humanity to progress beyond the Fangire's control he is not above being kind or even friendly with them as evidenced by his relationship to Kurenai Wataru.
King
King (The Bat Fangire) is the husband of Maya, head of the Checkmate Four and master of all Fangires. After hearing of Maya's possible affair with the Human, Kurenai Otoya, he sets out in order to discern the truth of this rumor.
Wolfen
The Wolfens of Kiva are based off of Lycanthropes, specifically Werewolves or Wolf-men of western (primarily European) myth and folklore. The name of the creatures are quite likely being the combination of the term Wolf-Man or Wolf-Men, or as well possibly being a reference to Whitley Strieber's horror novel (which was adapted to film in 1981), "The Wolfen". The last and only shown pack of Wolfens in the series was personally exterminated by the Fangire, Rook.
Jiro
Jiro is the last surviving member of the Wolfen race. Occasionally dineing at Mald'amour, both for it's coffee and it's customers. After the slaughter of his people, he has charged himself with revenge against the Fangire, Rook, And the task of finding a suitable female to help bring back his species from extinction. To that extent, he has since joined The Wonderful Blue Sky Organization, became the first user of IXA, and made a Darkness Pledge to Kurenai Otoya to be the Arms Monster Garulu, for Otoya's son, Wataru, when needed.
Merman
The Mermen are primarily based off of the Gill-man monster of the classic 1954 American horror film, "The Creature from The Black Lagoon". However the name of the creatures is also generally what is used to refer to the male counterpart of the mythical sea dwelling Mermaid. The Mermen were, much like the other monster races, wiped out by the Fangires.
Ramon
Ramon is the 127 year old last surviving member of the Mermen race. As the survivor of it's massacre at the hands of the Fangires, he chooses to hide amongst human society rather than risk exposure. At some point his will to live drove him to make a Darkness Pledge to Kurenai Otoya to become the Basshaa Magnum for Otoya's son, Wataru, when needed.
Franken
The Frankens are based off of Frankenstein's Monster of the classic horror novel by Mary Shelley, "Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus". The name of the creatures quite obviously being a shortening of the Dr. character's name, Frankenstein. Much like the other races, the Franken were wiped out by the Fangires for unknown reasons.
Riki
Riki is the last surviving member of the Franken race. As it's last living member after it's massacre at the hands of the Fangires, he feels it'd be better to live amongst human society than risk exposure. At some point his will to live drove him to make a Darkness Pledge to Kurenai Otoya to become the Dogga Hammer for Otoya's son, Wataru, when needed.
Kivat
The Kivats are a based off of Vampire bats. Although not Humanoid in shape, Kivats posses the most coveted power amongst the monster races. Unlike the other races, the Fangires seem to allow the Kivats to stay alive, but likely in exchange for their service.
Kivat Bat II
Kivat Bat II is the medium of which to allow King to transform into Kiva. He is also able to use the fustles that allow the use of Kiva's finishers and the summoning of it's tools.
Kivat Bat III
Kivat Bat III, son of Kivat II, is the last member of the Kivat race. With a sharp wit, he tries to often act as a voice of reason and encouragement for Kurenai Wataru. As well as acting as the medium to allow Wataru to transform into Kiva, he's also able use of the fustles that summon the Arms Monsters that grant Kiva different forms and can awaken the power for Kiva's Darkness Moon break.
Doran
The Dorans were a race of large dragons. Although being listed as one of the 13, little information has been provided on them. Thus it is unknown if they died out, were exterminated by the Fangires, or if any more exist and roam free.
Castle Doran
Castle Doran is a Dragon that was captured by the Fangires and was transformed into a castle. It houses both the Arms Monsters and the Buron Booster when not used. It is able to fight with Shoo Doran, and eats the souls of the Fangires when they are defeated by Kiva. It is supposedly invisible to ordinary people as it disguises itself as apart of a building.
Shoodoran
Shoodoran is a young dragon that was captured along with Doran by the Fangires and was transformed into a windmill. When called in times of battle, it can attach itself to the top of Castle Doran for an added boost in power.
Legendorga
The Legendorgas were featured only in the film installment of the series. Unlike the other monster races being derived from one western pop culture icon monster each, they are individually derived from many different monsters of European myth and folklore. In the film, they appear to have power and abilities that exceed that of the average Fangire. Despite their film only appearance, their canonical existence has been confirmed by being officially listed as one of the 13. But it is not known if they are still alive or if they've been driven into extinction by the Fangires.
Mummy
The Mummy Legendorga was the first introduced of the race. Able to take control of other beings, he made use of this while serving Arc.
Sayaka
Sayaka (The Medusa Legendorga) was among the other Legendorgas to serve under Arc.
Mandrake
The Mandrake Legendorga was among the other Legendorgas to serve under Arc.
Gargoyle
The Gargoyle Legendorga was among the other Legendorgas to serve under Arc.
